Place all ingredients, except garlic powder and pepper, in a large bowl and stir until well mixed. Set mixture aside for 5-7 minutes.
Spoon mixture into ½ measuring cup (if smaller patties are desired, use smaller cup measure). Empty cup onto nonstick surface (we like parchment paper) and flatten with hand to form into patties. Sprinkle patties with garlic powder and pepper.
Allow the patties to rest for at least 10 minutes before cooking.
Cook in a pre-heated lightly oiled non-stick skillet over medium heat, about 4 to 5 minutes each side or as desired. Great on the grill too!
Leftover burgers can be refrigerated for about a week or frozen for 3 months.
