Spice up your pizza and pasta with Vejje Sausage crumbles!
Ingredients
  • One 8 Oz. Bag DRY Vejje Sausage-Free Mix (use entire bag)
  • 2 tsp Italian Seasoning (dried) (optional but recommended)
  • 2 tsp Ground Fennel
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 cups HOT tap water
  • 2 TBSP Olive oil (or canola oil)
Instructions
  1. Mix dry ingredients in large bowl. Add HOT tap water and oil. Stir until fully mixed. Cover and set aside 20 minutes.
  2. Italian Vejje Sausage-Free Crumbles are now ready for your favorite baked recipes! Use them as a topping on pizza, or to make lasagna and casseroles. For soups, sauces and gravies, add browned crumbles to recipe just before serving. For baking (pizza, lasagna and casseroles), there is no need to brown crumbles. Simply add crumbles and bake!
  3. For a more pronounced Italian flavor, increase quantity of spices. For a spicier flavor add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the spice mix.
Recipe Notes

To use Vejje Italian Crumbles on pizza, hydrate the crumbles according to the above directions.  Do not brown crumbles but simply crumble them on top of pizza and bake as directed on crust. To add crumbles to prepared pasta sauce, hydrate the sausage according to above directions and brown crumbles in a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes.  Add them to the sauce about  5 minutes before serving.
